On-Campus or OnlineThe best part of the Digital Filmmaking program at Centre for Arts and Technology was getting to learn from real film industry professionals. It helped me in every way to see what mistakes I should not make in real life in the industry. I didn’t get jobs immediately after graduation, but I continued to build my portfolio, and took contracts that started to lead to jobs. I’ve since started my …
As a mature student, I had a fair bit of experience with websites and creating print pieces, but I knew there were some large holes in my skill set. When I reviewed Centre for Arts and Technology’s program, it offered a solid core of the technical skills I wanted to learn, but also touch on areas like photography, video, audio, law, and otherwise, that are complimentary skills that I can …
Centre for Arts and Technology provided the facilities and instruction I needed to acquire a job in the ever-changing world of audio/video. The instructors went “over and above” helping me gain the skills I needed to succeed and here I am a month before graduation with a full-time job in my field….
I’m extremely happy that I took the VHA course and pursued a career in animal care. It has been a life-changing experience with lots of personal growth, and the knowledge I gained from this program has been essential in the field. I would certainly recommend this course to anyone who wishes to follow a career path in animal care.
I’ve always had a passion for network security and Centre for Arts and Technology helped turn that passion into a career. My instructors were very knowledgeable and professional. They all had real world experience that I was able to draw on to better my learning and understanding of the career I was pursuing.
In late October 2007 I was biking to my nowhere job and I had an epiphany. Although I had a BA under my belt, I was going nowhere in my professional life. In fact, I was a call centre agent. I knew something had to change, and after looking at the economy and what jobs would best suit me I decided I would become a computer network administrator. I checked …

Let’s Get You Answers
Do you accept payments via e-transfer?
Yes! CAT can now accept e-transfer payments for student fees, tuition etc. Simply add us as an e-transfer recipient from your online banking portal and be sure to include your student number in the payment comments. No need for a security question as we are set up to receive transfers as auto-deposits. Please reach out to your Program Advisor or our Finance team to obtain the email address to add to your online banking portal.
What are the admission requirements?
We believe everyone has the right to an education so we don’t make you jump through a ton of hoops here at the Centre for Arts and Technology. Fill out the application online, pay your application fee of $150, submit an official transcript, and write an essay telling us about you, your goals, and your career aspirations. You will need to also submit your portfolio if you’re applying to photography or animation. (only for certain programs!).
Have more questions? Speak with a Program Advisor about your next steps!
I’m interested in more than one program, how do I decide?
Awesome! It’s great to have diverse interests and this certainly applies to many of our students. If you are in this position, we would suggest booking an appointment with a Program Advisor. They are very knowledgeable and can share detailed program and career information as well as provide opportunities for you to explore our programs in depth, including “try a class”, connecting you with successful alumni, and more! You can contact a Program Advisor by completing any inquiry form on our website.
Lastly, if you are in grade 11, 12 or recently graduated from high school, we offer an annual opportunity for program exploration called Bootcamp! Happening in March every year, Bootcamp offers 4 days of hands-on fun and program discovery. Additional details can be found on our Bootcamp page.
What is the campus environment like?
The best way to experience our bustling campus is to see for yourself! We offer campus tours, and if you’d like, you can even sit in on some classes to get the “CAT experience” firsthand. You can book a campus tour or arrange to sit in on a class by connecting with a Program Advisor through our inquiry form.
If you are unable to visit the campus at this time, here’s how we would describe it – Our campus in beautiful Kelowna, British Columbia is a showcase of the latest technology and state-of-the-art facilities, providing our students access to the very same equipment and software being used by leading industry professionals. Campus highlights include two audio recording studios, three film and photography studio classrooms, traditional and digital animation labs, and a dedicated interior design lab classroom. More important than what we have, is what we are – a bustling hub of creativity and learning, a tight-knit group of students and staff, and a feeling of ingenuity and exploration. You’ll often find busy classrooms, groups of students hanging out in the Student Lounge and a feeling of freedom and creativity. What more could you ask for?
What are the housing options for students?
While we do not currently offer on-campus housing, we understand the importance of finding suitable accommodations for our students. There are a variety of off-campus housing options in Kelowna and surrounding areas that cater to different preferences and budgets. We can provide you with resources, tips, and recommendations for finding housing in the vicinity. Additionally, we suggest exploring local listings, rental websites, and community bulletin boards for available options. Our team is here to support you in your search for suitable housing, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need further assistance.
Do you offer financial assistance?
Yes, we do but the financial assistance program applicable to you will depend on your eligibility. Each program has a different set of eligibility requirements. We can help you with applying for grants, scholarships, bursaries, government student loans, private student loans, part-time jobs and much more. There are many options available to you and we are happy to assist you. Feel free to visit our college campus Finance office or talk to our Financial Advisor to discuss your financing needs further.
Can I work part-time while I study at CAT?
Absolutely! Just make sure you balance your school requirements and your work obligations. Many of our students have shared with us that the sweet spot of hours worked during the week (to not interfere with their studies!) is about 10-20 hours max. But, it depends on you and what you can handle! Speak with a program advisor to get a better sense of the program’s workload and expectations.
What programs do you offer?
We offer diplomas and advanced diplomas across a variety of arts and technology disciplines. Our programs include: 2D Animation & Digital Art, 3D Animation, Audio Engineering & Production, Graphic & Web Design, Interior Design, Professional Filmmaking, Professional Photography, Network Administration & Security, Acting for Film & Television, and Veterinary Hospital Assistant.
Many of our programs also offer degree pathway options to continue your education after graduation. These pathway opportunities are a great way to travel, experience something new and level up your education!
Are there opportunities for internships or industry collaborations?
Great question! We pride ourselves on having deep and meaningful connections with all the industries that support our programs and through regular interactions with industry stakeholders, you’ll reap the benefits of this connection all throughout your program. While some programs DO offer internship opportunities, ALL of the programs benefit from industry collaboration and networking opportunities. These could come in the form of real-life projects you’ll tackle in class, workshops from industry guests, networking events, and more!
How does the college handle career placement and post-graduation support?
Thinking of your future career already? We love to see it! CAT is deeply committed to assisting students in their transition from education to meaningful employment. We offer a range of comprehensive career placement and post-graduation support services to help you succeed.
